Rebuilt turbo problems

Replaced turbo with rebuilt unit, drove about five miles lost boost. After inspection found the wastegate valve rod was disconnected. I reinstalled the rod but think that it maybe out of adjustments. Now the boost fluctuates, not really sure what’s going on. I don’t have any turbo experience.

thanks,
James

You should contact whoever sold you the defective turbo.

Thanks for the sound advise! I’m working with them now. However, I’d rather not take the turbo off if there is a way to adjust on the car.

OK I did find some info on adjusting the wastegate rod, but not a hard core measurement. Look at the last step.

Is there a way to put air pressure to the can ? Not saying this is the problem, but it is a possibility the diaphragm in it has a small leak. With some air pressure on it, spray soapy water and see/look for bubbles.
Rough to diagnose not being there.

Understand that, I just replaced my turbo, what a pain!! But if you start tinkering with it, you may find that they will not honor any warranty.

I sent them pictures of the rod, not connected to the valve. If I’m not allowed to reconnect and adjust, I shouldn’t be dealing with them. I don’t want to take it off if it’s not necessary.
