Tuning

Okay so I've been researching and looking into getting a cold air intake either K&N (with a Dry filter) or the GMPP intake but my question was do I have to get a tune? And what exactly is a tune? Where do I get one done? I'm new to all this computer stuff used to workin on carburetor vehicles lol but any answers will help thank you

looottsss of posts on here about tuning. Hit the search function up above and make sure you're looking for SS related tuning. There are members on here who do tuning as well.

You do ? Just wondering because you didn't answer back in the other thread.

Fwiw. Not a whole lot to gain with a cold air intake setup( unless you're going pretty strong with a tune). GM did a really good job with the design of the stock SS air breather assembly.
If you do go with a intake system, they usually seem to trigger a CEL in about half the SS's that use these. Then you'll have to get a tune to keep that CEL from popping up.

The stock HHR SS intake is a cold-air-system.

The K&N improves the stock system, by removing the restriction
of the stock intake 'tube', & the better filter of course...:twothumbs:

NO tune needed, + as an added bonus, the K&N system WILL improve
your stock tune, or your GMTU tune...:twothumb

PS, there isn't a GMPP intake for the HHR SS

Okay if I'm not going to gain very much I guess I'll stray away from buying one. I just know I've had them on vehicles in the past and it really seems to wake them up so o figured I'd see if it was worth it for the SS
