Welcome.

I have the same thing on my 08, and while my husband was solstic GXP shopping we started all of them up and they all sounded the same as my car. It is defently louder sounding then the cars we were used to. Hopefully they can figure it out for you though if it is a problem.

mine also makes a strange noise ( it sounds like someone is shaking a small chain, it does it about every 2 seconds when the engine is warm). It's coming from the front of the motor. My car is at the dealership getting other stuff done and I'm having them check the noise out as well. They told me they don't hear anything. I can hear mine over the direct injection and didn't hear it when I got the car a year ago. Has anyone else heard this or is it normal like the dealership is telling me?

There's a TSB on this - the fix is to install soundproof insulation on the fuel pump :)

windsmith - Thanks for the "link". I took a look at the cause and the fix and I'll be surprised if that isn't the issue. Interesting that GM wouldn't have done a retro fit on the new vehicles or ones already on the lot for sale. Anyway, will see what shakes and go from there.

It's cheaper for them to address complaints than it is to retro the entire fleet. :)

Update - 5:45pm and I just received a call from my Service Rep at the dealer. Tells me that the service dept. folks are still trying to identify the problem for appropriate action. Thanks to "windsmith" I provided the Rep. with the GM Bulletin number. He punched it into his company computer and sure enough there it was. Says he'll print it off first thing in the morning and get it down to the shop guys. I can only guess that this particular Bulletin was on a stagecoch that failed to get through or with a Pony Express rider that didn't make it to Tucson. Anyway, he promised a call first thing in the morning with an update on the situation.

Too much time under my belt to be surprised or upset by this, but with all that GM has been through in recent years it's got to make one shake their head and wonder.

Thanks again for the help, I'll report back tomorrow on this adventure.

Right. Like spending a week replacing sensors only to find a split intercooler pipe, even AFTER I told them to check the piping.

windsmith - good "rant" sometimes ya just gotta vent.

It will be interesting to see what if any response (or apology) Mr. Goodwrench has for me. I would be pretty embarassed if I was the mechanic and shop manager responsible for this, had the car for a full day, couldn't find the problem and had a new owner provice the answer from a GM bulletin.

More tomorrow,
