where to get wastegate solenoid?
SS is at the mechanic to diagnose p0234 overboost. Prime suspect seems to be the wastegate (aka boost control) solenoid. I called the dealer today and they said it is unavailable as a stand-alone, that it is part of the turbo. Been searching high and low on the 'net. Does anyone have any suggestions? Thanks Randy

Well I've looked high and low RJ, and the dealer is correct, that part is integral to the GM 12643932 Turbo. They are no longer available via GM dealers and the usual online sources are asking $1,200 to $1,400 + shipping for a New Old Stock unit.
These folks sell fully reconditioned and guaranteed units for only $739, and I've heard good things about them on our sister forums. GM 2.0L K04 Turbocharger #30467 - Turbo Concepts |
that's a rough situation having to buy the whole turbo - an auto wreckers might be a valid alternative.

Did you try any of our members that have some parts in the classifieds ?
Might try this one. https://www.chevyhhr.net/forums/clas...ge-sale-54672/ |
Hmm...I'd been looking for his Ad, bonus points to you George, you're great researcher Buddy!:thumb:

Yes, I had my eye on Tim's ad all day yesterday, thinking about it. I also found THIS , as recommended on css forum HERE. So if my solenoid fails the test, I'll have to make a decision.
Hmmm, a thought just occurred to me. My engine (and turbo and intake) has had, in my opinion, excessive oil vapor flowing through it for who knows how many (up to 86,000)miles. The solenoid may be gunked up, I wonder if it could be cleaned and returned to service? |
Considering the expense of a new or reman Turbo, you can always try, and it might work.
