08' HHR wheel choices

I've read few threads on custom rim choices up here, I can't ride steelies and hubcaps(actually I don't want to and funds are available in the budget for this), yet I want to retain a bit of ride quality still.
I'm between two rim choices atm:
#1 -17X7 40mm offset (safe play all the way around for clearance but speedo is off by roughly a .75-1 mile depending on the tire)
#2 -17x8 45mm offset (what I want, is closer to actual speedo reading *but* I'm seeing 28mm less inner clearance and adds 22mm more on the outer)

Question for anyone experienced with 17X8's: will they fit with no issues tires will be 235/45/17

What's your clearance lookin like with those 7.5's the 42mm offset is stock so I doubt that would factor in the 1.5 inch expansion over the factory 6's
