18" solstice wheels, 215 or 225 tires?

was planning on ordering 225/40 or 45s(cant remeber) but now that i've got all the parts and decided to bag my HHR, i noticed Lunch_box is running 215/35/18s on his. i want to get as low as he does, so im going to run the low profile tires (even though i didnt want to run 35s again like i did on my last daily driver lol...)

but anyways, for the solstice wheels, i think theyre 18 x 8, will 215/35's work, or should i go with 225/35s? 215s might be a tad too narrow.

Tirerack has specs for each tire that includes recommend wheel widths, tire height and section width.

I ran 225/45's on my Solstice wheels on my old HHR. I dont know if I would go with a 35 series though, not much sidewall there at all. If I had to do it all over again I would run a 225/40. As for the 215's, I dont think they would be a wide enough tire for the 8" wide Solstice wheel.

Only reason I'm going to run 35s is because I'm bagging my hhr. I'd rather run 40s but then its going to not get as low lol

As much as you don't want to go to wide a tire on an 8" rim, you also don't want to go too narrow on the rim either.

around a 245/45 is an optimal size for that rim. Don't forget, when you start messing with diameters, not only can it look real bad in relationship to the wheelwell (top and sides), but it will also screw up speedo calibration and ABS sensors

they will work but ull be stretching them a little man. I have 8" wheels and a 245 tire on them and a 255 would fit no problem on it
