2009 new style rims
I got my first in person look at a 2009 HHR over the weekend, and I have to say I was very disappointed, especially in the wheels. They were mag style wheels, but the outside is plastic! I thought you have got to be kidding.I hope these are the low end rims and not top of the line. It was a 2LT. I can't imagine they will look good a few miles down the road.

Here is a pic of the wheel I am talking about. It was taken by TomsHHR from his rental 2LT. Really cheesy IMO to put this wheel on a top of the line (outside of the SS) HHR. Very disappointing.

Hey, The Oe Wheels On My 07' Fall Ed With "blk Chrome" Are Plastic Bonded To A Real Wheel Too.

I think they look pretty nice for factory.

Well, with FlexFuel capability, window switches on the doors, and XM/Onstar standard across the board, something had to give.

Flex fuel capability is cool. I saw gas in PA for 3.42; flex fuel for 3.15. I just put Premium in Buffalo for 4.07. Almost a buck a gallon cheaper!

My Dakota has the same type of wheels. Metal rim with a chrome plastic outside. So far no problems, even with the mag-chloride they throw arown every winter. Easy to clean and still just as shiney as the tail pipe end and it is real chrome.

JIm I am currently running my first tank of E85 so I can see how performance and fuel economy are affected. So far, there is no loss of performance (E85 is 100 octane, and does produce an additional 2hp); but a noticeable drop in fuel economy. I want to wait until I use the entire tank and check my fuel usage so I can have a better idea what my mileage actually is. |
If in fact they really are plastic, that is a shame. I had the plastic ones on my LS (I recently replaced them with OEM 16" alloy wheels) and it wasn't very long before they started to "rattle" when going over uneven roads.
