235/45/18 on stock SS wheels

I've done my share of searching and have not found anyone confirming that they have successfully mounted up a set of 235/45/18 size tire on the stock ss wheels. Anybody?

Stock tires 225/45/18 = 26 x 8.9 R18
Tires I want 235/45/18 = 26.3 x 9.3 R18

I know the biggest issue would be clearance for the spring perch up front. But the tire will only be ~0.34 inches (or 8.64mm) taller making it ~0.17 inches (or 4.32mm) closer to spring perch. What you guys think?

Width wise I think SSfan and others have gone wider but those will rub for sure since rubbing starts at 26.1ish.

Just put some coilovers on there and do away with the large spring perch.

I have read about this "26.1 rule but I have also read about others saying that the 26.3 will fit so don't know what to believe.

Rubbing does not stop you from moving. It just rubs off material. As you get taller though eventually you go from rubbing to wedged together lol.

Wheel offset may play a part in it too.

Even if they barely clear when mounted on the car, just remember that tires will flex and lean a little when hard cornering. So, they could still rub under those conditions.
Don't know if I'd want to go with the tallest tire that barely clears.

Yes I have mounted a 235x45x18 on stock SS wheels. I would have lost the 100.00 to the Discount tire Mgr, it was His idea. We put them on 08Banshee's SS, He loves them, awesome all season tire. I will be buying a set for myself, soon as I wear a little more off these Gmax03's. 40k and they still have 5/32nds.

Here is what they look like.

Thanks for confirming Sam. maybe you could get some pictures of the spring perch clearnace?

I was actually gonna spend the $ on those Michelin a/s plus tires until I read the reviews about chunks of rubber coming off and the dry rot maybe too sticky for an all season. I've been eyeing the continental DWS for 235/45 or Pirelli p zero Nero for stock 225's.

I was also checking out the general g-max because they seem to be the best value. What's your opinion on traction and noise??? I see reviews that they are a little noisey??

I tried the DWS in 245x40, they lifted in deep water, it happens here a lot. The gmax have been the softest, quietest tire I have tried, but they were the 255x40. 40k plus and they are still quiet and handle the deep water. The DWS does have monster traction, I swear they ripped the rocks off the road. Check out the weather at the autocross today, monsoons.......

oops clearance, they are close, but no rubbing. A little closer than these.
