55mm offset wheels???
55mm offset wheels???
Will the 55mm offset wheels from a Saturn Sky fit our hhrs without using spacers and longer studs? I have both a 2008 ss with the 18 inch wheels and a 2007 special eddition with 17 inch wheels. My black chrome wheels didn't hold up to well and I am thinking of buying 18inch Saturn Sky wheels. The offset on the standard wheels I beleive are 35mm. Are they a direct bolt on???? Thanks Roy
From what I havew read so far(going to be doing the same thing) is that the standard 18" HHR rims have a 42mm back spacing, the Sky/Solstice 18" rims have a 55mm back spacing. Doing some math that would mean you need about a 1/2" spacer, and longer studs. Granted this what i read, and the path i am going to be taking. I have not actually done it yet to confirm or deny it.
They will fit, but you do need spacers. There are a few solutions.
One member used just 3mm spacers and ground off a spot on the strut. 7mm should work without modifying struts, but I would use longer lug nuts or studs.

I would think that the nuts would only be half on with 7mm spacers. How many threads are still on the studs? Or how many open threads can you see in the lugs?
you can put them on without longer studs, but to me that is not safe. You do not have enough thread. And yes I have a set of solstice wheels for sale with 7mm spacers. I also have a new set of longer studs. I am going to put them on my SS if nobody is interested by tihs weekend.

7 mm is 1/4 of an inch. I feel very safe on them and have had no problems. The wheels are hub centric so they are not just riding on the studs. I have closed end caps on the lugs but I got 10-11 turns on them with my hand before I ran them up with an impact and then torqued them. To each his own.

Did you have aluminum factory wheels, or the black steelies with hubcaps? Someone on here mentioned there could be different length studs from the factory.
There is a set of solstice wheels for sale in my area, I really like em.
