Alternate size

I have a 2011 LT. The OEM tires are about done. I would like to get the Michelin Defenders but they are not made in 215 R 55/16
I would like to stay close to the stock size what are the best size alternate that will work on my stock 16" steel rims? Looking for any suggestions and other success stories.... Thanks!!

Michelin Symmetry user here on 16" rims. I would use the Tire Size calculator lying around here somewhere. Where'd I leave that darn thing? Cripes, can't remember just now. Try the search bar at the top. :thumb:

I put 215/60-16's on mine. I wanted the largest tire I could put on there because of the horrible roads in Michigan. I had 17" rims to begin with and kept bending them. Went with 16" and a 60 and never looked back.

Would a 245/60-16 look fine on a 16x7 wheel with +40 offset? It's the same diameter and overall width of my 245/40-18. Seems it would work with some sidewall bulge and maybe fit a 235 to reduce that.

245/60/16 specs out to 27.57" tall. That's too tall.
245/40/18 specs out to 25.72" tall.
