anybody painted stock ss wheels black??

See I'm with you Bat. I actually don't mind my stock rims. I just wish they were black chrome.

Here's a couple more pics of my rims. I took 600 grit to the chrome (ouch!!). Cleaned them real well. 2 coats of primer, 4 coats of black and 3 coats of clear. Bought my red pin stripe tape off ebay. The paint was applied early this year and has held up extremely well. 3 or 4 minor chips so far but I just took a black paint pen to them.

Paint will work on your rims but will not hold up for all that long. Painted rims are also harder to keep clean in the long run as the paint ages brake dust sticks to it more.

If you want your stock wheels black, do yourself a favor and spend the money to get them powder coated. It will cost you a little more but the results are worth it. You can even pick how much gloss you want. Brake dust will clean off much easier.

Just make sure the coater masks off the lug holes and the back edge of the hub hole. Pwoder coat can be thick enough to effect fitment if it gets in these areas...

So what would the best way to paint my ss rims rims black? Want them to look to look good and not spend a fortune since I'm just going to have them on in the winter. Didn't know if the dupli color kit at autozone would work. Need some opionions plz
