Center caps for HHR SS 18" wheels.

Hi all, I am new to your community as an HHR owner and live in the Raleigh NC area. In awe of many rides seen here I recently purchased a black 2008 Chevy HHR Panel (150k miles) with the rear wing spoiler, sunroof, no running boards :-( , rear seat option, 2.4 EcoTech w/Auto and 18" HHR SS wheels. It does not have the Pioneer system. The previous owner w

Yes I own it, I just haven't taken my own pics yet. These were the dealer's.

as apparently an A Team fan because he painted a similar red side stripe and blacked out the grill. He put GMC on the grill, steering wheel and the center caps. Fortunately I got it before he got around to adding roof lights :-) .
I have already ordered some parts for it and it is going in for fluid and filter change this weekend with full synthetic 5w 30 oil. After a checkup I will know what it needs for a tuneup kit. It needs the belt changed but I think I can change it from underneath. If I get into it and I'm wrong I will just have it towed in and fixed since I pay an autoclub yearly for that anyway. I got a chrome liftgate applique, am waiting on running boards I ordered and my key fob w/spare key just arrived, so that will be dealt with this weekend along with the fluid/filter change. Hopefully I'm off to a good start.
My problem is finding the correct center caps for those wheels. I have checked the threads here for parts numbers and I've searched the internet and found many that look right with varying parts numbers. Any help in finding the right part number or where to get the right caps would be greatly appreciated. If I have posted in the wrong place please forgive me. I require guidance in my old age except for when there is good food or tequila around. I find that pretty well on my own :-) . Thanks in advance for any help as well as for the inspiration your site has given me to be an HHR owner.

Welcome. SInce you are in NC put it in a garage somewhere for now.

Swis1967 09-13-2018 07:41 AM

Do you mean because of the storm? I hope it won't get that bad!

firemangeorge 09-13-2018 07:54 AM

Welcome.

I don't have the original caps. The previous owner replaced them with GMC parts as well as the horn button.

Swis1967 09-13-2018 08:17 AM

I was hoping someone with the same kind of wheels might have a part number on theirs.

Swis1967 09-13-2018 11:41 AM

I think I failed to mention that besides making sure mechanicals are good for now my goal is to get all the GMC stuff off of it and get the Chevy stuff back on it. Nothing meant against GMC's but this is a Chevy and it should have Chevy on it. I am looking to change the grill to an aluminum billet, get a Chevy horn button back on the steering wheel, Chevy center caps back on the wheels, the chrome Chevy applique back on the liftgate, running boards on the sides and chrome mirror and handle covers. Also going solid black eventually.

That A-Team scheme... :winner:

Since it is not a real SS, RockAuto has these listed

All GM dealerships have parts departments with full digital catalogs.

There is no "rear seat option" for panels, they just put them in. Except for option AA5, half panel with regular rear doors no quarter windows.

firemangeorge 09-22-2018 11:06 AM

I posted up the GM part # for the OP back in post #4. I then deleted it because he didn't want just the number. He wanted someone to physically go pull off their SS center cap and look inside for a number.
Doesn't matter. He's just on the long list of people who ask a question then don't come back.

@LivingForTommorrows
Thanks for the thumbs up for Ateam scheme but I want to go solid black at some point. That and the GMC stuff was previous owner which is why I'm looking for Chevy center caps.@OldBlue Thanks for the link, they would do if I couldn't find the right size Chevy caps. Was really hoping for caps with Chevy logo though (not stick on decal). I bookmarked the page though in case I have to go with these.

@Donbrew
Thanks, I might end up ordering from the dealer. I had not priced them there yet and figured they would just overcharge for it. I also found out recently they don't like to give out part numbers because they know we will find them cheaper. I was not aware the rear seat wasn't an option on the panels. I guess someone previously found a matching rear seat and installed it.

@FiremanGeorge
In your recent post I did not see a part#, only that it would be behind another cap. Being I don't have any of these caps I did not have the ability to reference the #. I did notice the post disappeared soon after it was posted. I do not EVER under any circumstances intend for anyone to pull their stuff apart trying to help me, I was only thinking that if someone had to replace one of these they might have the part#. As for the list I'm on, the only one I am trying to be on is the list of satisfied HHR owners in this community of HHR owners. Please forgive me if I have been busy the last few days.

That is REALLY interesting to me.
The ones they call "chromed silver" look black and I have been wanting black without having to Plasti-dip my current ones.
Has anyone here bought those exact parts?

Swis1967 09-23-2018 02:23 PM

Thanks to all for their help, those are exactly the caps I am looking for OldBlue :thumb:. The matching tool even says they fit my application and the price is good too. I ran across similar caps at other sites but nothing said they would fit and they all had varying part#s. When I first got my HHR my goal for the wheels was to put Boyd Coddington Junkyard Dogs on it but I have since found out they are not a direct bolt on and I don't know how to make them fit. That being I thought my wheels would do if I got the right center caps for them. These vehicles are just begging for the classic 5 spokers though.

Oldblue 09-23-2018 04:21 PM

AR 5 spoke ( Bullitt)Torque Thrust rims are popular

Not sure if this ad is correct as far as price for a set of 4 (as that link says). If you Google that part #, most of the links/ads show that price range for just 1 cap.
A set of 4 new caps seem to run $75-$95.
I would check a little deeper into that buygmparts.ca ad. It may be one helluva deal if that price per 4 is correct.

Oldblue 09-23-2018 06:43 PM

One way to find out , order some, but be prepared for the dreaded, shipping and duties from Canada.

Swis1967 09-23-2018 10:42 PM

The ad says for a set of 4 but ads nowadays don't tell everything. I'll find out when I order them. I guess for now I'll order the center caps for my wheels and dream about the classic 5 spokers. Parts lady says Boyd Coddington Junkyard Dogs require modification and same for the AR Torque Thrust. There are the AR Torque Thrust M's but they are chrome plated aluminum, not polished aluminum. There are the Cragar 600G &600C but again they are powder coated or chrome plated respectively. And there are the Euromax 612's if you can get them but again they are chrome plated. Boyds are only polished aluminum classic 5 spokers I know of. I sent an email to them to see about a custom set or a way to adapt them to the HHR. For now it's gonna be center caps and a new belt & tensioner. I got the remote programmed which does everything but open the back doors. For some reason the dealer couldn't get that to work after charging me $60.
