Continental tires
 

::sorry have not posted in awhile. Question continental tires extreme dws good bad anybody. Also 225x55x16 would i have any problems with this size tire or 225x50x16.

I've got 225/55R16..... No problem fitting at all. The 50 series fits too, but it's a little short in my opinion. I'm not running the Continental so I can't say about that.... I think those that have them like them though... :skull:

Running the Continental Extreme Contact DWS on a 2006 LS and I love 'em, also running the Extreme Contact DW on a 2011 2LT, love 'em too.

Now the Michelin Primacy MXV4's on the 2007, they're great unless the roads are wet, then its a different matter....just slid home from Charlotte in a downpour...what fun!

My decision came down to Michelin Hydroedge and Continental Extreme Contact. Went with the Michelin and love them. Incredible tire. Very, very happy with them.

I've heard good things about the Continental DWS, In fact, I just recommended them to my cube-mate at work for his G8. Sux that he has to buy 19" tires, but those look like the best.

843de: Were those Michelins really that bad? I just put them on our van, and I thought they were great. We haven't yet had HEAVY rain or snow, though. They are really quiet, and the wife thinks I'm golden at the moment. Is there really a dark side? Sorry about the thread jack, I will bail out after he responds.

Well Blue I'm thinking the Michelins and my HHR may just not "like" each other. They have great dry road traction and they are super quiet with a nice controlled ride. But show the darn things anything more than a slightly damp section of pavement and the fun begins.

I've had the alignment checked and its spot on. The tire pressures are spot on with a Nitrogen fill for added peace of mind and less variation in pressure due to heat build up. The struts and shocks are new KYB units, the suspension has been gone through and everything is fine. So the vehicle isn't the culprit in this case, these tires on my HHR are just plain twitchy.

I made up my mind tonight that they are coming off in favor of Continental Extreme Contact DW tires, hate to do it because I really like Michelins. I wouldn't be overly concerned about the ones you purchased, they are super nice tires except in this one case.

Last week I was on the Thruway in one of the heaviest downpours we've had around here in a while. My Goodyear Eagle GTs held the road fine at 60-65 MPH.

I just wanted to throw in my two cents about the Michelin Primacy. This tire rides great, has no noise and is great in the dry, but in the wet and snow it leaves a little to be desired. Mine are about 50% worn and I have seen a dramatic loss of wet traction and the car likes to hydroplane much easier now. Also, I have always recommended Michelin tires but this is the third set in the past five years that in less than three years has developed heat cracks all over the tire-sidewall and tread. I live in Northern Ohio so it is not the heat causing this, it almost seems like the oils that keep the rubber soft dry up quite quickly. One of these sets of tires tire dressing was used often, the other two sets were not so chemical degredation is also not the cause. It is just a little disappointing that Michelin tires are usually the highest price tire and the quality is just not there.
