General GMAX RS

My "new" 2009 HHR SS I just got has a hodgepodge of different tires on it. I am looking for summer only tires (I will use Blizzaks in winter).

Looks like the General GMAX RS high-perf summer tires are getting good reviews and they are priced reasonably ( $115.50 per tire after rebate, tire only).

Anyone have experience with these tires?

Thanks
Steve

Same company makes Continental and Hoosier. Well technically Continental Americas d.b.a. General tire is owned by Continental A.G.

I guess I'm going to be the tester for the General GMAX AS tires on my HHR SS. Later today I'm having them installed. The ratings (at various tire web sites) showed they were in the top 10% of the "Summer UHP" tires and they were significantly lower cost than the leaders.

I meant to say the General GMAX RS tires, not the AS tires.

I actually have GMAX RS tires on my '15 Z/28. I was in a bind, one of my pirelli's cracked 1 week before a track day. I had TR ship them to a local shop and install them and was tracking them less than 24 hours later. AT the time there was zero info other than 1 magazine review about tracking them on a challenger. They now have about 4k on them and 4 track days, SERIOUS abuse. No complaints thus far. Obviously I gave up some seconds of lap time with them, but the compromise of good street tire+decent track tire can not be understated.

Link to the original article, again, at the time these tires were hot off the press so this is the only info I could find. https://www.hotrod.com/articles/gene...ires-are-made/

You have a 2015 Z/28? Now THAT'S a fun car that can take down some of the big ($$$) boys on the track.

I'm glad to hear the good on the GMAX RS tires.
