HHR LT vs. LS Wheels & Studs

My HHR is an LS but I upgraded to LT wheels from eBay. Using stock LT wheels, I apparently stripped the lug studs while mounting the wheels. Are the LS studs shorter than the LT since the steel wheel is thinner than the alloy?

Not sure about that, but my 2LT comes with a steel wheel for a spare (yes it works too)

Did it seem that there were only a few threads before it was in contact with the LT wheel?

No there is no difference between the LS and the LT from 06-09. P# 9595178 about $3.50 a piece.

Yes, I did notice this, but there's no way I stripped them while mounting the tires.

I'll be finding some new lug nuts with extended reach.

It may be that the lug nuts are different, were you using the LS or the LT lug nuts? Extended reach should do the trick......

Are there different lug nuts? When I upgraded from my 16's to factory 17"s, I noticed the lug nuts go pretty far into the wheel...

Don't know if there are or not, if they are the same I can't see how they would strip.

They're supposed to be stock LT lug nuts, according to the seller.

However, they're 13/16" OD, which is incorrect for the HHR according to my dealer.

So I need to find proper chrome lug nuts with extended reach. Any ideas?

Every time I run accross a torque number or a bolt size I jot it down on a page in the HHR notebook.

If I wrote it down correctly on my specfications page the lug nuts are 19mm and the studs are 12mm X 1.5

Well, after farther inspection, I have a couple studs that are still stripped, and one or two where the threading is messed up.

At this point, I'm looking to replace all 20 studs, and have a new set of lug nuts, so I can stop dealing with all this. Do you know if there are harder studs available? I'm not much liking the OEM ones if I'm still having this problem.
