I have 18" wheels with 225 tires on my HHR, no problems.

I put michelin 225/50/17s on my HHR, and even with eibach pro lowering, no problems!

Isn't there something in the car's computer that has to be set for 17" wheels?

Yeah, doesn't it mess up the speedometer reading?

It's not the wheel size that affects the speedo, it's the overall height of the tire. If you start with a 26" tall tire, switch to a bigger rim, lower profile tire and are still only 26", your speedo will be the same. It's only if you go with a taller or shorter overall tire it throws the speedo off.

This may help.

215/50/17 = 25.5", 225/50/17 = 25.9" Diff of only .400 & only .200 higher on ride height.

That in total is only about a 1% - 1.5% increase in tire overall height, I believe..
Which would slow the speed-O only by 1% - 1.5%...........Almost un-noticable IMO.
