Looking at Tires
Just bought a set of Goodyear Assurance Triple Treads.
I have used them on the wifes car for the last 3 years and they have been greeat in Wear, Snow, rain and dry. They were a step up from the Comp TA's that came on my GTP that lasted only 24,000 miles. The Comps wore even but had no life even with the wife driving most of the miles.
Here in the Snow Belt and on a street the city seldom plows they have done a great job.
I went with a set of 215-60-15 as the Revolutions Per Mile were 802 vs the 18 inch pilots that are at 800 RPM so they should fit right on with no problems and if anything a improved ride.
I am still getting the Smoothie wheels painted black with a red lip and street rod rings and I will post pictures once they are mounted.
I guess I will be a little retro in the winter.

The water traction has been great and I was shock how well they do in the snow. No need for Blizzak's.
I got a good deal on them from the tire rack with the Goodyear rebate they have right now. I also get $20 off each tire due to my Dad being retired from Goodyear [no pun intended].
The Comps I had on my GP before were just not good for wear and the Goodyear Eagle GT HR's on my last truck were horrible in water.
The newer Goodyear tires are not like the old ones. They are revamping their line up of tires one line at a time and the new tires are some of the best anymore. I could not say that in the past.
Be warned some old lines like the RSA and others have not been replaced yet and are not up to snuff. They soon will be replaced.
Thats good to hear, i've got 12k on them right now and they have basically no wear. I haven't tried them out in the snow but torrential downpours, ice and hail doesn't phase them one bit. We live on the coast and get a _lot_ of water so thats pretty important.
These tires in water are just like fish and swim right through! These are not cheap tires but you get good value as they wear longer than most.
Tires are like car companies. Each line of tires is like a line of cars. Some are fast some are cheap, some are old and out dated, etc.
It is like saying owning a Aveo and saying Chevys are slow. Or a ZR1 Vette and that Chevys are expensive.
They all have their good and bad lines.

If you install Michelin Pilot Exalto A/S tires you will be fine in the snow, wet and dry pavement. I trust my life on these tires! Here is the link at TireRack that talks about the tire:

I had a generic set of Cooper Lifeliners on my wife's car, and had an issue after a year or so where the sidewall cracked (tires were 1 1/2 yr old). Neither the manufacturer nor the retail store where I had 'em put on offered any kind of reimbursement, and had to eat another set of tires (got Michelins this time) full price. I learned later that specific set of tires were recalled after 6 months.
