Low tire pressure warning for 2006 HHR ???

Looking at two 2006 HHRs for possible purchase. One owner thinks his has a low pressure warning feature. I had come to believe there are neither TPMS sensors inside the tires, nor any other method used to detect low tire pressure, on 2006 HHRs. Anyone know otherwise?

One of the HHRs has ABS. My son's Pontiac Vibe uses the abs signals from the tires on opposite ends of the same axle and analyzes any differential in rotational speeds (or so I have been taught) to activate the low tire pressure light. I guess a 2006 HHR could have such a system if it had the ABS option.

I really want the the TPMS feature as it has saved our destroying a tire more than once. Just having a hard time believing the guy who says his 2006 HHR has it. (I haven't yet driven the two hours to see the vehicle to have been able to check out the features on the DIC or lights on the cluster).

2006 HHR has low tire pressure warning system, yes or no?

Welcome to the site.

No TPMS system on the 2006's. Some had the ABS.
You can go to this link if you'd like to read through an 06 owners manual.

Thank you!

I had searched through a downloaded pdf owner's manual, 2006, and found no reference to any detection/warning system for low tire pressure. Just wanted to hear it from someone else, since one owner (with very broken english, hard to communicate with) says his has a warning light. He's probably thinking the Enhanced Traction System Warning Light is for low tire pressure.
Thanks for the confirmation.

The '06 many things were options. Mine came in with no tract control, no ABS brakes, no TPM. The valve stems for the TPM cost any where from $25-$100 according to the dealer. ABS brakes un necessary if you know how to drive and trac control may be good in snow, but not necessary in warm climates. The same for AWD, may be good for snow. I had a car with AWD ( early 1990s) and found it mostly un necessary even though I lived in the snow belt.

My last car had those "options" and those are pricey to repair.

If he has a warning light (no mater what it is), and is hard to communicate with, I'd pass on that vehicle totally. The last thing you need is to get a vehicle that has existing problems, especially those that flash up a warning light.

Thanks Whopper

I believe he meant there is an indicator available, either by the DIC or a light that illuminates when you first turn the key to "run." I am supposedly first in line to test drive the car tomorrow, would certainly not buy if any warning lights are on without first checking them, at Autozone for example.

In summary...

I test drove the '06 HHR that according to the owner had a tire pressure warning system. It did not, neither by warning light nor through the DIC. From all the investigating I've done and the posts here, I've concluded that no tire pressure warning system was available on 2006 or 2007 HHRs, at least for LS and LT models (I didn't research the SS model), but a TPMS system was standard equipment from 2008 on.

Thanks to all who posted, I really appreciated the support.

BTW, Saturday I purchased the HHR from the individual with the broken English (from S. Vietnam). It had 65k miles, LS trim, also sunroof, in very nice condition for only $5650. Only problems with the vehicle so far are broken (missing) set-time button on radio, and power mirror control switch needing replacement.

An LS with a sunroof? That's an oddity, I thought that was 2LT territory.
