needing tires. fishing for ideas and help.

I just read solman98's story on tires and a friend told me about how some places will get tires and then not use them and they'll go on a sale.

it's something similar to that. Tires hardly used and therefore sell cheaper due to buyer not into them after a drive, etc.

also if there are some different tire sizes besides 215/55/R16 that fit the HHR and come in a better price/better tire for gas efficiency, ride quality, and more, that would be great.

Trying to find tires for $100/ea or close to that. fishing for suggestions or what you've come across lately.

I have had 5 different tires on mine the gmax 03, smoothest ride by far, great in water, good in snow, and high mileage for a ultra performance tire. Dont know what to tell you about 100.00 per tire, due to our inept leadership, those days may be over, unless you can find some take off's. Check with your local discount tire shops, they allow you to switch tires within 30 days and they sell those at a discount, good luck.:thumb:

i'll drive by and try that out. i'm looking for long lasting tires and decent ride. i drove 32k in 13 months so I definitely need a longer lasting fit for my car. which may have me spending a bit more but oh well, more hours. horray. :P

My Michelin Destiny tires I have on my HHR are rated 80k miles and I have about 34k miles on them and still 9/12 of the tread on them.. Pricing was very fair for a 16" rim.. I forget what the exact size was, but to compensate for my vehicle having a 17" base rim for the "Bright Chrome Rim"

Sounds like the G Max 03 has four out of five Hi marks.

What about the fifth ... Noise level on various types of road surface ???

Hardest part of your request is the $100/tire. I took a look at what Discount has and these popped up.

I'm still waiting for mine to come in......:toast:

sorry Silver fox, they are almost silent, this is the most cultured Ultra performance tire I have ever owned, I wish they cornered like the Eagle F-1's, they were full race on the corners, but how often do you need full race performance. The best part is yet to be seen. They have a 440 rating, should get great life out of them. I am about to rotate them the second time , 10,000 miles and they still look new, even with my lead foot and data logging for Vince.:twothumbs:

Thanks SS. I just put them on my radar of great possible replacements.

I went with Hankook's 12,000 miles and still just fine but a little noisy!
