Does anyone know where it's located in a 2010? Just replaced front sensors and wheels/tires and having the same issue where it stops displaying 1 or 2 after a short while. I'm pretty sure it's the control module now.

Can I take any year module and swap? Does it require any programming or is it plug and play?

Have the positions been relearned? Why replace only 2, don't you think all 4 are 11 years old; battery life expectancy is 10 years.
2010 models require a special tool to relearn positions.

 

Yeah they all relearned on the first try. Even the old ones.

I just wanted to get 2 done this weekend for the front so I dont have bald tires for the rainy commute next week. I'm still waiting on the remaining 2 sensors to arrive so I'm waiting to put the new tires on the rears.

this isn't the first time I've replaced the sensors but the last were used but still seem to work fine. I ordered new ones for fun since they are $12.

2010 just needs to be put in ignition mode then hold lock and unlock on the key fob and you can relearn all the sensors positions without any tools.

 

You forgot to set the emergency brake.

Some 2009 and ALL 2010-2011 Chevrolets require the EL50448 or similar.
To get into learn mode, correct. To excite the transmitters, NO. If you think you relearned them without a EL50448 tool; that is the problem, you replaced the ones that seemed to be bad.

 

As my directions say you use a relearn tool, as Donbrew points out an EL50448. They are pretty inexpensive on Amazon, EBay and such

 

I've always done it with the key fob method and it's always worked fine.

my issue is that after driving for a while, the computer will stop recognizing certain wheels, sometimes one. Sometimes 2. Its always random. I figured that since I just replaced 2 that it must be an issue with the receiver for the tpms sensors or something other than the sensors in the wheel.

are you guys saying that this issue will be corrected if I use a tpms programming tool?

I just hit 200,000 miles. I figure things like this are inevitable.

 

The issue of "what years need the relearn tool' has been discussed numerous times on this site. Donbrew and myself agree to disagree on what is correct.

Myself, I have a 2010 model. I have reset the tires without the use of the tool. Just used the fob/ air release method as described in my 2010 owners manual.
And yes, I did check afterwards to make sure they were relearned to the correct position. They were.

As far as what years need the "tool" for relearn. I always thought it was just the 2011 models.

 

I really just want to know about swapping the module tbh. But there seem to be different versions of each year, a lot depending on previous rental status from the looks of it.
