Spray bed liner on wheels?
 

I have a set of 20's I got for really cheap a while back. They have some curb damage on them, nothing major. After running them for a while I stumbled upon a how to on painting chrome wheels so I sanded them down, primed and painted. Looked great for a few months but then the gravel road I live on took its toll on them. My question is how would it work if I had them professionally sprayed with bed liner? I know they would be hard to keep clean. I think it might look pretty cool. Any comments?

Just plastidip them or get them professionally powder coated.

Was planning on having my rock guards bedlinered, is that a word ? Might ask the pro's in your area, they must have tried it before.:thumb:

If you decide to do this, you will have to remove the tires from the rims. If you spray the entire outside surface of the rim, it will be a pain to remount the tires. The edge of the rim with the rough liner surface will be where you could easily gouge the liner material while remounting the tires.
I wonder what they would charge to do this? The stuff ain't cheap. Got a neighbor who does spray foam installation and has done a few bedliner apps. Heard him mention some of the costs of the products.

and then you need to concider the heat from brakes heating the wheel, it could get past the adhestion point of the bedliner material

Doable... Google duplicolor bedliner and Xterra... I've seen those guys (use to be one) run them on their Xterras and off-road with them!!!

I have used Duplicolor wheel paint with great results. I use their color coat followed by their wheel clear. I wet sand the wheel with 400 wet, followed by blowing it off, wiping down with wax/grease remover, final wipe with brake cleaner. First spray with adhesion promoter, then prime with self etching primer. Then color of your choice followed by a couple coats of wheel clear.
I did both of these vehicles that way.

Bedliner has a rough texture, I imagine it would look strange on wheels.

Daily gravel will probably chip just about anything you put on them... a professional powdercoat will be the most durable.

There used to be a truck running around that was bagged with all sorts of cool stuff. He had the entire truck rhino lined inside and out. When he actually washed it it looked awsome!! Even better when he would put tire shine on the whole thing.

I have had Rhino lining in my truck bed for 14 years. I was told by the installer NOT to put any ArmourAll or similar product on the lining. Causes the lining product to start breaking down.
