SS Snow Tires

What size rim will fit an SS for snow tire use?

I looked at tire rack and they list 16" and 17" as fitting.

I know SS models with Brembo brakes need a larger rim (17"?) to clear the calipers.

Will 16" rims fit on a non-Brembo SS?

I know this has come up before, but I can't remember what the answer was.

Thanks
Steve

16” steelies, the 18 hole variety will fit the non brembo front SS rotors and calipers, that’s the same as Oldblue has with the red winter rims.
Ive seen about upgrading to the brembo calipers and larger rotors they apparently fit behind 17” rims, per the ZZP site.
Do you still have those 17” 2LT chromed plastic over aluminum rims, they where on Oldblue last winter?

Yes, I still have those 17" 2LT rims. Those will be going on Oldblue again this winter for my daughter (they have winter tires on them).

I may need a set of winter rims/tires for a non-brembo SS. Brridgestone Blizzaks are $50 more per tire in 17" size than 16" size. So $200 more for a set of 4 17" Blizzaks. I do have a set of aftermarket 17" rims on my original 2006 Orangel/Blue HHR, which are available.

I guess it would probably cost me more than $200 for a set of 4 steelies so that would eat up any savings buying the 16" Blizzaks.

I have so many tires and rims for HHRs that I need to go back and take inventory!
