Tire pressure sensor price.

Don't know if this should be here.
Most cars take 315 mhz sensors so why such a wide price range ?
I got to be missing something on this.
Here is Tire Rack:

Check your year and rim at RockAuto auto.
Aluminium rims can require a different style TPMS then a steel rim

I'm going to call Tire Rack and get an answer to this.
The only thing I can see is if you have a rubber valve stem it's less money than one with a metal one.

Blue I don't need sensors I was just curious in the many price differences for the same frequency sensor.

FWIW, Had my tire guy install new VDO SE10001HP REDI-Sensor 314.9 MHz/315 MHz TPMS sensors I bought on Amazon along with new tires on my SS. He was REALLY hesitant to install other than OEM TPMS sensors given his experience trying unsuccessfully to sync nonOEM sensors, but the technician was able to calibrate the VDO sensors without issues. Tire place owner was quite surprised, but I had done my homework and determined the VDO TPMS sensors had the best chance to work as advertised. That's my TPMS 2 cents worth...

I didn’t say you needed new ones , just check specific parts for your SS. There are differences in requirements for stems and fastening methods.

Methinks someone has way too much spare time...

Price is a function of what the consumer will pay; unfortunately people think "magic" is expensive. They probably cost around $2.00 to manufacture and transportation is so cheap as to not count.

OEM in this case is Schrader not GM/ACDelco. VDO/Siemens was superceded with the Schrader.

Note the sensors are the same no matter the stem.

Thanks Don, that's why I just bought these for my snow tires that don't have TPMS in them.
Yes the wheels came off my first HHR which are steel 16" rims.
