What is a good tire size for 20" rims?

What is a good tire size for 20" rims?
I want to get 20's but i want to have some meat on the tire without rubbing any suggestions?

Don't go any bigger than 18s.

I'm running a 225/30 20". I have Gio 942's which are 20" by 7" with a 40 offset. The wheels were custom drilled and inserted. You can run a either of these also 225/35 20" or a 235/30 20".

Buy an Escalade?

Seriously, it's not a good idea to put anything other than the stock overall diameter of the tire/wheel combo.

What you are asking for could be accomplished with raising the suspension and then recalibrating the speedo and upgrading the braking system. You could be the first with an HHR Donk.

FYI, Donk's typically have bigger rims than a 20". IF you look on this site there are a lot of rides with 20's and they're not Donks

Depends if you are lowering the HHR and the offset. Here's my setup.

American Racing Rogue Chrome
Model: AR-673
20" x 8.5" 5x110 +35 Offset
Tires: 235/30/20
Lowered with Eibach Sportline Springs
Had to roll the rear fenders just a bit to fit. If you have a 2006 HHR you must roll/trim the rear fenders a lot.

If lowered, you can stick with a 225 width tire on a 20" x 8" wheel with the right offset, you'll probably get away with not rolling the rear fenders on a 2007 HHR.

If you plus size, the overall diameter remains the same. Maybe your definition of plus-sizing is different?

Yes, and those DONKED sedans are larger than an HHR. You would have to "donk out" an HHR to fit a 20" wheel with a significant amount of sidewall as mentioned in the original post. Go back and re-read. It doesn't ask if you can put a 20 under an HHR. I know that you can put 20's under an HHR.

Also, did you see the "smiley"? I was making the sugestion somewhat in jest.

As far as donks being "barf", they're not my cup of tea either, but isn't it great that we can all like differrent things!!
