Tire warranty; is this covered?
My experience with Firestone and car dealerships is that it will not be warrantied. Firestone will be very happy to sell you new tires. The fact is you don't know what happened, and even if you did they will find a way to use it against you. Buy something else and give Firestone the heave ho. And in pricing new tires in that size I found that I could get really good ones for about $300, a bargian in my opinion since tires for my Bronco a few months ago were $260 each, its rolling around on over $1000.
Have you been to the Dealer ? Have you looked at your tire warranties that came with your car ? Have you talked to a Michelins. Dealer ? If you say no to any of the ? Then why are you ? well you know the rest..........
I just found the problem today. Since to the best of my knowledge the tire warranty is with Michelin, yes I will discuss it with my trusted tire shop who carries Michelin. I'm not hopeful that they will do anything but will give it a shot. I have looked at Michelin's warranty booklet and it is vague. The part that will probably get me is that they will decline coverage if the tire is "bruised". I.e. they will claim I hit a potthole. If I somehow get better results, I will let you all know.
I know the tire(s) are expensive, but here is the blessing - it didn't blow out on you while you were driving. I had two old Firestones about 10 years ago get bulges like that in the tread area. Scared me to death when I saw what was causing the vibration. Be thankful you saw it before it went.
My advice? I don't think you will trust them from here on out. Buy a set of tires in which you will have confidence. I like the Kumho Solus for the great ride, quietness and rain grip, but I doubt it is a cutting edge handling tire (though to me it grips better than the Firestone). Just depends upon what you are after.
I hope this helps, and I am glad you didn't get hurt. God Bless, Marc

What model and size Michelins do you have? I have always had such good luck with them I am hoping to replace my original tires with them. I have had a hydroplaning problem and a friend mentioned a Michelin that was made for snow and water and he saw a dramatic improvement in wet weather handeling. Also I would love to know how the dealer helped you out - my local dealer is excellent and has helped me in 2 different situations with Michelins

Stock tire usually do not come with a road hazzard warranty. I would take in to make sure it wasn't a pot hole though. But that does look like it hit something. Unfortunately, if they remove it to check it out, they will not put it back on and send you on your way. You would have to buy a tire.
You could also check wrecking yards for a used tire to get you by for now.

The problem with that tire is whoever installed it. The bead of the tire has been ripped during installation. I'd be willing to bet, that tire also has a patch in it somewhere from being recently repaired. Did you buy that car used? Did you or your wife have that tire repaired recently (within the last couple months)? I can tell you from personal experience; low profile Micheline tires are a real ***** to mount without tearing the bead; then throw in a wheel with no outer lip, and a TPM sensor and the odds of tearing it up just increased.
