Anybody running 215/60R/16's

Looking for a Softer ride (to a point)

Is anybody out there running this size now or in the past ??

Please give me your feelings about the ride and the handling qualities.

Michelin shows that size @ 26.1" oa. diameter

Thanks,

SF

I do run them, they do fit. I don't know about ride, but you will save around $100 on a set of 4 215/60X16. You will notice the speedometer is off (65mph = really 68mph, bad for radar), as well as the odometer will be low by around 3.4% (good for trade in value).

If you are looking for softer ride, I doubt that tire size will make a noticeable difference, without going way overboard, like better than 70s. And then an entirely new can of worms gets opened.

Thanks for your input. Did you make the switch solely on lower pricing or was there another reason.

How about any change or down side from a handling point of view.
Mainly making 55- 65mph curves in hiway driving. A tendency to feel a little more unstable or ??

What air pressure are you running in these.

Note: Also good for BTB Warranty mileage by 3.4%.

Most people I know run out of mileage before time on their Warranty so this is a small plus.

BTW I just ran both sizes on Tire Rack and they came up the exact same.
Full set $596.00
I ran Michelin Primacy MXV4.
215/55R/16
215/60R/16
No savings there.

I just run 32 psi, I use the car for work (upwards of 70K/year), so $/mile is my only concern. My experience in Virginia at Firestone, Mr.Tire, Pepboys etc. is about $100 difference on the set, but I am also trying to keep 75,000 mile tires down to around $400.

My current set of Firestone Affinity Touring 70,000 mile tires have 76,000 miles with only inside edge wear, coming from a bad rear bearing. The wear bars have not popped up yet. I do rotate them every other week (3,000 miles)

I just am not concerned enough about handling or ride to notice any difference.

The couple of times I priced at TireRack, I found that The deal at the local stores was better after paying the extra installation charges. Just my experience, to each his own.

Well, I just rechecked at Firestone and found that 215 55X16 Affinity Touring actually are cheaper this year! I am corrected.

Are the 215/60r's wider then the 215/55's? Just wondering becuase I'd like to go to the widest tire on all fours that I can, along with NEW rims in the spring. Open to suggestions - I'd like to be in Budget of $1000 for 4 NEW Tires and rims.....Thanks everyone - always enjoy the suggestions!

Although tires vary, a 215 is 215mm wide. THe 60 is just a tad taller.

Depending on the wheel offset, you can go wider. I'm running 245's on my Cobalt wheels. Some are running 255's on SS wheels, and i think someone mentioned squeezing a 265 in somplace.

Thanks solman - This is a subject I have to research over the winter months! I want some actual rims instead of the steallys....LOL How do you like your Balt wheels? What size are they? 17"? DO THEY COME IN 16'S? Sorry for dumb questions here but again I'm a HHR NOOBIE! My plan is this - and I want to stick with the 16" if possible, but keep the stock steelly for winter,
and get a FULL SET Front and back RIMS and tires just for the Summer Months....If I stick with one size then I'll have alittle option of switching tires around in an emergency etc....If that make sense....LOL Thanks again.
