TPMS for steel wheels

I have a 2009 2 LT and I want to change my wheels to 16" steel smoothie. I understand that the toms sensors from my stock alum rims won't fit. Is that correct ? Where can I get sensors that will work ? Thanks

Hi Steve, to the forums!!

I think you mean TPMS,

Your sensors, if original, are very likely near the end of their life anyways(non-replaceable batteries). You should be able to get the proper sensors from many sources. EBay, tire shops, Amazon, etc.

I don't know any reason they won't work. What reason was given?

They are available everywhere auto parts are sold. Just be sure they don't think you have a PT Cruiser.

I read on a different thead that all I have to do is change the valve with one that matches the new rim and has a nut in it to attach the sensor to it. You're right about getting new sensors too.
To answer the other guys comment... the valve stem is different for aluminum wheels vs steel wheels. The thickness of the metal is not the same

Well then get rubber stems. The sensors are the same.
