What tires?

What tires are you guys running for good performance? I need something that grips really good for acceleration performance. Also wondering whats the biggest tire size that could be ran on the car?

Thanks.

I'm running the BCT S800's in a 235x40x18's on mine. Had them on for about 2 weeks/1000 miles. They seem a little soft compared to what I normally run but so far, they're great. Some of the best performing tires I've owned

yea, i was thinking them or Sumitomo, which is what we have on the Trans Am

Is the 235's the biggest you can run on the car, would like to go with the 245's but i don't think that there is room for turning

You cannot beat Hankook's for price and grip. I used Hankooks for the track tires on my Vette and they really hooked up! The Ventus RS3 is the line to get. A few years ago Car and Driver/Road and Track did a full-blown evalauation of performance tires and Hankooks came in as one of the three top performing tires and the cost was significantly lower than that of the BF Goodrich and Michelin that were rated just slightly better.

Be prepared to sacrifice tire life. I bought a set of Hankook Optimo's for my wife's Nissan Quest. While they were grippy and did a LOT better in the wet than the Goodyears that come with the vehicle, they were completely worn out at 30k miles.

Hope this helps.

thanks man, i appreciate it a lot

just need something better than Michelin, they really suck! the car spins all through 2nd gear from 30 rolls, first gear is just a joke :)

Tuning the car made so much more power and tourqe

I agree the XPs don't hold the power very well.....but they did ok in our las snow storm.
I too would like a little more wheel and rubber, but finding this info is a little tough as rare as our rigs are. I was going to just paint my wheels black, but I think I will search for others with atleast an 8 inch width.......

I just put on the Continental extreme contact DWS. Quiet ride, I have a 2lt auto so tire slip is not a real problem. These are supposed to be very good in the rain and snow which I was looking for living in Indy. I like the look also. I did not read any bad reviews on this tire and at $123 per tire I am very happy so far with them. I did go with the 225/45/17. It throws my speedometer off just a touch. To go 65 my speedometer reads 66. Checked by the GPS.

Perhaps a better size would be 225/50/17 That's what I'm thinking of switching to..

Use caution on your choice as all companies have good and bad tires. Their models are like car companies and some are older and not as good as some of the new models.

You can't just say BFG is better than Toyo or Etc. It comes down to what model tire it is and how new of a design it may be.

Read Tire Rack reviews and toss out the high and low reviews and you will get a general Idea.
