Wheel cover replacement help

I lost a hub cap (wheel cover) on my 2011 HHR. I bought a set of replacements and seem to have installed it correctly (haven’t driven it yet) but now I can’t get the others off. I then found out there is something called 5 spoke steel wheels so maybe I got the wrong type. How would I find out if mine have these type of wheels?

You have the base model LS 16” 18 hole steel wheels. They are held on with plastic lug nut caps. You need to remove those first then the hub cap.
Easiest way to deal with this is to remove any loose, paint ,dirt and rust, then paint the steel

Thanks for the reply. I’m the original owner but recently had a major life change and am taking care of it myself and trying not to rely on my mechanic for everything. Hoping to keep it for another 10+ years.

So paint the wheels instead of replacing the hub caps? Assuming I will use something like rustoleum to get rid of the rust. What type of paint?

You don't have the 5 spoke wheels. The covers are not interchangeable, they look similar.
They are not held in on the rim, they are held on by the plastic stud bolt covers. Note that the exposed studs have extra threads that the covers screwed onto. The plastic bolt covers are attached to the wheel covers.

Unscrew the the plastic covers, they don't pull off; when all are loose the wheel cover comes right off. I can't seem to find any illustrations.
Check this youtube out at about 2 minutes, or just look at the girl until it gets there.
here is another one not HHR but the same.

Rustoleum is a good choice.personalize your HHR with your favourite colour, or a contrast dark or light gray. It’s your choice!
