Wheel/Rim Width

I'm in the market for new rims (pothole damage / shaking).... I currently have the stock 17x6.5, 42mm offset, 5x110mm bolt pattern. I want to use my same tires (215/50R17).... my question is: would 17x7 work? or 17x7.5 with those tires? Does the offset have to be exactly 42mm?

Thanks very much,
Andy

You cannot install a wheel on your car that has a smaller center bore than that of the center bore of your car. If the wheel has a larger center bore that's okay. But if it is larger it is always recommended to use hub centric rings that fit both the wheel and your car.

I like these... how would they look on a black hhr? Is it ok that they're 17x7.5? (My tires are 215/50R17)

That is a good choice. That rim size will fit good.

No, it's not too little offset for the HHR with the rim width that you are referencing to.

The special edition from 2008(the granite metallic one) had 17X7 rims that look just like the factory 5 spokers, if you're interested in keeping that style wheel.
