Wheel and Tire Size recon

She is wanting some rims for the HHR, i did a search im on page 5 of 15 and i cant find the correct answer.

What is our bolt pattern?
Back Depth?
Largest Rim/Tire Size?

Im looking at the rim pics now to see if she can get an idea of what she will like with size etc.

bolt pattern 5x110
offset should be around 42mm
you can go up to 20" rim if u want but will ride horrible..best thing would be to stay between 16-18 for best ride

Bolt pattern--5x110
Largest rim/tire size--Height wise, 26.2" is about as tall as you can
go before they hit the lower strut perch on the
front end.
Back depth--------Not sure on that. The offset is what you need to
look at. Going with custom size rims, not really
sure but somewhere around 42 maybe.

she seen a set on CL i need to get more info on them they were 18" with a 8 bolt universal pattern, but i think they are deep.

weird for me to be asking about big rims and low tires, when on the explorer its big mudd tires and off roading, this is a huge 180 for me, lol, explorer has 15x10 running 33sx12.5, so yeah huge change for me

8 bolt wont work, unless you find the proper adapters. HHRs need 5 or universal 10.

thats what i was thinking but wasnt sure. this is all helpful, ill be able to narrow down what she can look at. now just gotta narrow it down so it doesnt throw off the speedo calibration

Tire size is limited because of the clearance between tire and strut,,26.2 dia is max..and thats not enough to throw speedo off....so with a 17 rim you can do a 225/50,,,18 is a 225/45..use that as a starting point..some run as high as 255/35..run a 8" width, though a 7.5 is ok..offset of 38 will bring the tire out and close the gap to the wheel lip..make the tires more flush with the body and is better with the wider tires. 42 is stock.a 38 will give you a little wheel lip to play with too, as the 42 is flush to outside the tire.

she definitely wants flush. She says the explorer looks like a match box car because the tires stick out further then the wheel well, so yeah definitely flush.

I mean how the tire/wheel sits in the wheel well..a 38 brings them out more flush with the body..the 42's will set the combo inside the wheel well....looks weird. You cant get em outside the body as they will hit everywhere, also, the 42 wheel will be even (flat) with the tire, no wheel lip..the 38 will allow some well lip to be visable. No part of tires will extend beyond the body with either set.
