265/70/16 tires are like pickup truck tires. That's the size on my full size Dodge Ram truck. Waaaay too tall for the HHR.
They are about 30.5 inches tall. Max size on the HHR is 26.3 inches tall.

ALSO - I realize the standard rim size is 16 inches (R16) but can even like 17 or 18" sized rims/tires work as well on a 2006 standard HHR?

THANKS SO SO MUCH .
Yes you can run different wheel sizes. I went from 16" to 18" using Cobalt SS wheels along with a 245/40 tire.

They say "A picture is worth a thousand words"
Here's one of my old Dodge truck tires, 265/70/16, leaning up against my HHR tire.

FMG - just roll that fender lip a bit, along with the door - and it'll fit right on there.

Go old school, now mark a chalk line around the circumference of TTR larger tire!

Measure twice , snip once. Or something like that!

You can get a taller tire back there! But can’t go lower than Lunchbox!!
