To expand on what FMG said, that is also the GVWR, or Gross Vehicle Weight Rating. Basically, it is what the manufacturer says the absolute maximum operating weight of the vehicle and it's occupants is. We know the HHR has a payload capacity of ~1000lbs, therefore, they weigh ~3200lbs, which seems resonable, considering the Cobalts weigh about 3000lbs. And I would love to see the work that wewnt into a 2.4 to get it up to almost 160mph...

Yep. "Stock" HHR gearing + "Stock" rpm redline = Physically impossible to go that speed.

Now if the owner can get his "stock" HHR to turn about 10k rpms, I may have to eat my comment.

If he is ASSUMING the HHR weights 1900 pounds and it is kg's....maybe he's reading the dash as kph. 157 KPH = approximately 100 MPH......which is much closer to reality (which he is missing).

Additionally, if he is truly getting a top end of the reported 157 MPH AND has just the "squeeze" of the K&N oil filter, then I wish he would contact me. I just showed a GM engineer his post and he is rolling on the ground laughing.

And you need to look for the HHR fantasy site.......you need to stop this. Many of us were 'day one' owners and fully know what these vehicles are and aren't capable of and well as how they are equipped and what their capacities are. We have members with competition built HHRs that would have difficulty reaching 157 mph. Stop trying to impress us with your middle school fantasies....it aint working. No matter how many times you say it, nobody believes you. Post a picture of your weight tag and something showing you magical HHR at 157 MPH on your policeman friend's strip.

I agree, you seem to be reading the metric side of everything and getting it confused, cause your number do not compute in reality.

 

In 2008, GM said that the new HHR SS had a top speed of 155 mph.

I think our (im)poster has mixed up some of his specs in his fantasy world.
