hey i was on the autabuy site and theres an 2007 HHR thats been converted to rwd ...ya gotta look at it ...hes asking 46,000:one:

See how banged up that exhaust is? She's low and heavy with that V8. Hits everything I'd bet.
I'd settle for a RWD with my existing Turbo 2.0 and some back seats.
But for $46K I'll buy a really nice C5 or C6.

For 46k, I want fuel injection. Who the hell uses carbs anyways. How would you register and inspect that. It would never pass emissions or pass OBD2 tests. Just a vehicle you could not drive on the street everyday without a dealer plate that is assigned to the owner of the HHR. Here in NH, that would never get a sticker.

Yeah... Wouldn't trust that one. VIN and year no longer match, sounds kinda fishy to me. Cool car for sure, but definitely not street legal.

And don,t get me wrong. I am a big fan of v8 engines in vehicles that never got them, but if you are going that far, carry it on out using fuel injection and the correct equipment for the year to pass OBD2 testing.
I looked at a great v8 conversion S10. It was a 98, so OBD2 applied. But it used a carbed 85 350, and all of the wiring had been removed. I would at the least had to install a 96 Vortec, or LT1 with transmission, and wire harness with pcm. At that point I could just build my own for less.

On the up side, everything is well executed. And the use of a LSx motor is perfect.

Oh who cares about emissions! When I went and got my last inspection sticker for my '81 CJ7 I pulled up with open headers and got a sticker slapped on!

Beautiful HHR, but comparing other things that you can buy for that much money, it's not worth $46k.

Well in many states all 96 or newer cars have to pass an obd2 test. It is a plug in test, no emissions test. If the OBD system checks ok, with no current codes or stored codes, the car passes. That HHR having a carb would not pass the obd2 since there is no info for the system to read.

But still a great conversion, A L99 out of a camaro or 6.0 from a truck with f body intake backed by a 6 speed would have been my choice. Government compliant, knock down 25 mpg, and hold on to your butt fast.
