HHR SS vs. Honda Civic SI
Okay, at lunch I am going down route 18 (5 lane; 55MPH speed limit; sunny day) between Montrose and Medina, OH. I am legally gaining in traffic to get to the head of the pack. I notice a new blue Civic SI doing the same. We happen to get stuck at the same light next to each other with no one in front of us; straight shot.
I give a thumbs up, he just looks over. Light turns green, and I launch; I am ahead, but I pull back once I hit my desired speed. He decides to basically do the same but only once he has gained about 4-5 car lengths on me. I catch up and am cruising at about 60 in fifth. I decide to just see what he can do (only because the conditions were right):red:. I downshift into third and simply take off, I can hear that he is trying to catch up but is failing miserably. We get to another light and he rolls his window down with a thumbs up. Civic SI Guy: "That thing can haul! What's in it?" Me: "Two liter turbo!, but only in the SS's" Civic SI Guy: "That is crazy! That thing can simply haul!" Me: "Thanks!" We then turned in separate directions. That totally made my day, though.:thumb: In hind site I shouldn't have said anything about the turbo being in SS's only and let him live in fear of all HHRs. |
I got a similar reaction from a kid in an EvoX the other night. Good kill.

After driving both, there is no comparison. (we bought a Civic EX after deciding the Si was too much $ for the bang) Months later I bought the SS HHR. I'll take 260 horse over 190 any day! (though my civic is worth a lot more than my HHR right now...)
