I had thought about a Cruiser a couple of years ago, but read in Car & Driver magazine about the new HHR Chevrolet as building, and then saw it during the Detroit Autoshow. Well, I was hooked. So I waited until the HHR was introduced to the market. It's a marriage made in Heaven.

SIHHR... Oh my... all the mods I did to my old PT were staggering... not to mention expensive! (Ram-Air hood, "smoothie" rear bumper, air box, dual exhausts, grill, lowered & beefed-up suspension, 18" wheels... yada, yada, yada!)

Basically I stopped just short of adding a Supercharger or aftermarket Turbo. (had to draw the $$$ line somewhere)

Looking back in retrospect, I was trying to take my "daily driver" and turn it into a custom "show car"... a concept which would've worked much better if I didn't live in Northeast Ohio. Yuk, snow & salt on top of crappy pot-holed roads!!!

It's hard to resist the urge.

If you're interested... I do have a link off of my personal website that has pics of my old PT and all the mods I did to it. (back in the day)

My website is: www.jondarling.com Go the "links" page & it should be towards the bottom of that page. I'll probably leave that link there for while (has some good memories) but I'm going to start one for my HHR as soon as I get some good/new pics! :)

No doubt, it is hard to resist the urge to mod!

So far, I'm very happy with my HHR as it sits, however in the future I can see myself adding a thing or two...here and there. (I'm being mellow on the mods this time around)

Right now I'm getting plenty of compliments & comments (parking lot discussions) about the/my HHR... just the way Chevy has designed it.

...and "For those about to Mod... We salute You!" (modified AC/DC)

Same here. I don't think the HHR is going to get much in the way of performance mods now that I have a go fast fun car ('72 350 Chevelle Malibu) that I need to sink all of my money into to restoring. I still can't help but mod my daily driver HHR. The HHR will be all about the looks. The Malibu will be all about the performance.

CH - I see that you have a Chevelle Malibu as well.
Outstanding! Please check out www.chevelles.com for information on restoring your '72. Also, if you are looking for parts I have a ton left over from my 7.5 year restoration - just send me a PM. Oh yea, wanna race?

Thanks! I have a feeling my restoration is going to take quite a while also. The car needs a lot of work (I'll post pics when I get it to my house) and I want to do most of it myself. I know enough people to help me out with the stuff that I don't know how to do so I think it can be done. I have never completely restored a car, just worked on them. :)

Let me know if you need any help.
I'll do my best to find pics, parts, whatever.

Oh yea, I'm actually selling a 396/402 Big block if you are interested.
