Not that it's a lot, but I know the 3.1 was redesigned in 1993, giving it 20 more hp. That engine in the early Luminas (LH0) was known to have poor high end RPM power, but good at low/mid RPMs.

Yeah, high rpm's do nothing. Quicker acceleration if you let up some, let it shift and get back into the power.

Yeah I had a 94 grand prix with the 3.1 and it was terrible. Especially so since it was down on compression on 4 cylinders, which eventually caused its death. I sure had fun beating on that car though.

Yeah, the early 3.1s were essentially useless. Luckily I guess it's not hard to do a top swap on them to make them a 3.4. Either way, what I have is at least better than the original 3.1. Not that mine is a racecar, but it can get out of it's own way.
