HHR Road Trip

Well we missed the Nationals (I'm not too happy about that), but now we are headin' out for a lil road trip to visit some family in Kansas.

We are leaving from Susanville Ca (its a hole in the earth about 100 miles from Reno Nevada) Saturday 8-2, hitting I80 through Elko Nevada, Salt Lake City Utah, Cheyenne Wyonming, and then I believe I29 and should be showing up in Kansas city (or near it) right on the border somewhere on the 4th. We're stayin’ there for 3 days then we're heading to Colorado to tour the Stanley Hotel (yes from the Shining) then from there we're heading home with a pit stop at Hoover Dam for a look around and we should be home on 8-9 or 8-10.

We are on a pretty tight schedule, but we may be able to stop by a meet if there is one during our stay in Kansas.

Has anybody been over this route? What are some must stop and see’s? I wanna get some good photos of a few things that I might not see again.

Also if there is snow at this time of year anywhere along our trip, a heads up would be appreciated.

Do the Hoover Dam tour. I did the Glen Canyon Dam tour which is east of there in Page Az and it is well worth it.

We got back on 8-12 and here are a few pics of our journey mainly the moments spent on the white stuff, and no I don't mean snow! Thats Bonneville salt flats.....

and for the video, lets see if this works...

I only got up to about 90mph which kinda upset me, but I had to replace a tire right before I left on vacation and I think that messed me up because it started felling loose in the back. It was still fun though.

the trip and the dam were both great, the dam traffic wasn't real bad either it was the dam heat (that never gets old) that was rough. The HHR said it was 106, but it felt a bit more than that.

Cool pics, Jim!!! Your HHR looks good with that kind of salt on it...unlike the crap they use on the winter roads in this part of the country!

I'm familiar with that type of salt also, and I hate it. This knid I love and I'm going back after I get new tires.

we should make an HHR on the salt day, We could all meet somewhere roll there together and take over the flats as a get together.
Just a thought
