More I think about it ; the only way to really raise the front is shimming the cradle, then adding longer shocks & springs.

Hmm. With 800 lbs. added weight, sounds like the strut springs are overloaded and squatting.
It might be as simple as getting some much stiffer rated springs to put on the stock struts.

Back in the old days, if we swapped out the small blocks for big blocks, we would always swap out the front coil springs to handle the extra weight.
(GM stuff. Chevelles, 442's etc.)

Hence my suggestion of bags! Air bags will handle the weight and adjust the ride height
