Do NOT take your HHR to the outdoor theater!

Holy crap this is an embarrassment!
Can't kill the interior lights with the hatch open.
Flip the key forward to start the car and your flashing the other people.
Remember to hold the lights off when resetting the radio...etc...

Basically, the lights for this car suck for enjoying the outdoor theaters!

Fwiw. Mine, with the hatch and/or doors open, the interior lights will "time out" and shut off after about 15 mins.
Just don't close then reopen them or the 15 mins. cycle will start over.

I turn the rear interior light off and unplug the inside mirror. When I go to the movies.

I hate that we don't have a knob that we can turn the lights on and off from.

I tend to just park normally because I don't have a van or a truck. Besides, adult drive-in fun is better with the hatch closed.

The audio is played over the radio...

So, you flip the key to restart the radio and the dam lights come on with hatch open.

No one wants to sit there and wait for them to time out again in 20 minutes.

Think I'll just take my Blazer or Corvair next time and avoid the embarrassment of having a car you can't shut the lights off in.

Hope GM doesn't still do this with newer cars too...

Maybe just pull the interior lights fuse before you head out to the show ?

Shouldn't be that difficult to switch the interior lights. If you can get to the fuse, installing a switch is easy.

Why don't you just open the rear deck lid and take your key and roll the latch into the lock mode and you will not kill the batt. just remember that you have to close it and use the outside handle to pop it open then shut the rear hatch.
