Fuse #8

I have to pull fuse 8 in order to tow behind my motorhome. This is the Ignition Switch, PASS-Key® III+ fuse. Just what does this fuse do and what would happen if I just plain left it out and drove the car? I'm assuming this disables the locking steering column but may be wrong. If that is all it did I would leave it out permenitly.

But what would happen if I didn't replace it?

My guess it that it won't start. Don't know about the pass key part, may just disable the feature. Maybe Chevy Mgr can shed some light if he reads this.

UPDATE:

I found out what happens if not replaced. The car can start and as far as I know run but it won't let the key turn past off. So it won't go into lock so I can remove the key. Also cuts power to some other stuff like dome lights I think.

Necro thread being brought back! It was relevant to a thing I went through recently. Anyway, for the archives, this will likely also disable remote start. Failure may look like interlock issue
