Could I ask why? Not sure I understand the logic for a second battery while tuning. If it's just a weight difference I get it. Less weight=faster et

I'm guessing weight transfer to over the drive wheels for slightly better traction also.

You never want the voltage to go below 12.0 volts when tuning...
Just a 'safety' thing for me as I had a bad experience with my 98 Z28 years ago & almost 'bricked', lost, an ECM because of a 'flakey' main battery.

Oh! Yeah, that's a great tip. Hadn't even thought of that. Thanks Dave, we don't want any bricked ECMs round here.

-Same goes for the laptop while flashing. It specifically says to have a full battery and not use a power inverter from the vehicle source.

Ok gents, schools out for summer, (Alice Cooper), showing my age...
Anyone up for extra credit, a fun summer assignment...

Everyone, right now, put a E47 Ethanol mix in your SS 'buggy' .
It easy, wait until your at half tank, then pull up to your E85 pump & fill it up...

It's 100% safe as we have a wide-band O2 sensor...
You can do this with any gasoline 'tune', from stock to crazy...
Our ECM can 'swing', in a range of -30 to +30, so you are a-ok...
It will 'swing' to appox: +15 after 5-10 minutes of your putting half a tank full of E85 into your half a tank of gasoline...

You can beat-on-it right away after leaving the pump, no problem...
BUT after every new start-up after you have just put in your 1st E47 mix, please be gentile on the throttle until the wide-band kicks in, which takes about 3 minutes.

You will enjoy the benefits of an Ethanol mix right away, not the full benefits of maximum efficienty & power of the E47 mix, as your timing tables need increased to take full advanage of the slower burning E47 mix.

You'll notice a 'smoother' running engine, a cooler running engine, & you will never ever have any engine knock what so ever, as at the level of an E47 Ethanol mix, maximum knock suppression so been reached...

So, with a bone stock 'tune' you will feel a small increase in power, & a tenth of a second improvement down the quarter mile dragstrip.
The wilder your gasoline tune is, the more power you will have.
If you have the best gasoline 'tune' in your 'buggy' right now, you will gain 20hp right now with the E47 Ethanol mix, which is close to the 30hp you would get with a 'true' E47 'tune' that has had the increased timing changes in ALL of the spark-tables.

So if you like the gasoline 'tune' you have now, you have also created your 1st E47 tune, & you can switch back-in-forth between E10-E47 at anytime, no problem, just by changing the fuel mixture in your 'tank'...

Now if you wanted to change you 'tune' to a true E47 'tune' you just have to change the 'Fuel-Constant' from whatever you have now, to .03355
If you have a stock 'tune', your Fuel-Constant is .02840
If you do the math:
2840x100 divided by 3355=84.65 , 100-84.65=+15
Remember the -30 to +30 swing the our ECM can handle, & I stated that you would go +15 using E47 on your gasoline 'tune'. I have just showed you the 'math' behind it...

If you like what you have, fine, but if you want it all, increase ALL of your timing tables to take advantage of what your E47 Ethanol mix can give you.
I've made this easy for you to. Just follow the 'link' to my 'posted' 'tune over on HPTuner & copy ALL of my timing tables to your 'tune'. My 'tune' labeled 060816 is the one you want to use, as it has been well 'tested,' for use from E47-E100
Bringing back that 'old-school' wonderful, vacuum advance, part-throttle feeling LNF

CLASS DISMISSED...

Let me add, don't use a power inverter when logging as well.

True, NEVER use a power inverter...
I use a backup battery on my laptop also...

True, easy peasy to register on the HPTuner site...
But anyone can also 'message' me their email address & I'll send them my 'tune'...

Awesome - thank you for the info 2005HHRAuto!

So you're saying if you run 93 pump gas, wait until you're half full then fill up with e85 to get E47?
