Would disconnecting the OnStar have any affect on the XM service? Right now I do have XM, and while the value can be argued, I do like it. Since the OnStar box is in the back, and the XM antenna is in the back, I could see where GM may have ran some items together in the interest of cost savings. If the OnStar is unplugged, will that wreak havoc with XM?

I'm not asking if the units are tied together for any kind of 'big brother' type of thing, just wondering if they would have used same connectors/cabling for build cost savings.

Another thought just occurred to me, which antenna IS the OnStar antenna?

I often fart into my On*Star mic.

Bethany in Michigan doesn't appreciate it. So I'm told...

Anyone got an answer for him? I will be ripping mine out this weekend and would like to not break something!

Do what I did, got rid of my Onstar GM vehicles. They force it on you now with no option out of it. So no more GM cars.

It was tied into the remote unlock so Onstar can open your HHR remotely and like Don said the anti theft feature
