Rental Cobalt: proof of whip schedule break-in goodness?

While my HHR was at the dealership having the coolant leak repaired, they put me in a rental Cobalt. Stripped base model 4 door 2.2 liter and automatic trans 27,000 miles on the clock.

That thing ran like a striped ape. Guarantee you it was flogged by customers from day one.

Chalk up another one for a "whip schedule" break-in.

Funny you mentioned this......

Just about 2 hours before, my wife and I were discussing the 2007 HHR 2lt we had rented while on vacation. Although the body and interior displayed the vehicle was obviously a rental....scratches, minor dents, dirty upholstery....it too ran llike a raped ape. And, it had 19,000 miles on it (close to an oil change at 27%...called it to their attention. They said when the indicator says to change, they will )

Everybody beats on rental/courtesy cars. Whenever we get a courtesy car from Mercedes, the first thing that happens is it goes to red line. Ill admit, it is disrespectful but i think everyone loves the idea of driving a car like a madman without worrying about blowing it up. Cars for sale from lease returns are the same thing, cosmetically they are decent but the engines are just beat to hell. Drove an RS4 the other day, clean on the outside and inside but sounded like valves were tapping. What can you do?

(Florida 7/07, 07 Mustang 750mi on the odo) Damn open diffs

LOL. I have an 05 Mustang V6. I once accidently spun my "tire" at a stop sign and was then pulled over by a cop. He said I was "exhibiting speed" or "exhibition of speed".. I was like, dude, it was one tire for a split second, I cant spin both tires to save my life. He reluctantly let me go. I take it he has seen "My cousin Vinny".

But yea, rental cars, like say, Malibus, usually run like theres water in the gas tank.

speaking of rentals..just had my shifter replaced today and i had a 06 grand prix with 24000 miles on it....body was good, nothing out of the ordinary, interior, yep smelled like fish and fart, but the ride?!?!?!?! oh my dear who is all that is great!!! sounded and felt like one of the tires had a ball, when turning the wheel to make a turn felt like the damn suspension in total was about to just come off, flooring it felt like major turbo lag, steering wheel would start to shake once you hit 35mph and on, oh man the list just goes on and on. im just glad it did the job long enough till i got my car back.

We have had Malibus and a Malibu Maxx as rentals.

Being given them as rentals made me happy that I did not buy one....absolutely hated them. The only rental I liked was the Impala.
