Oil filter

Can you change the filter on the 2.2 without draining the oil .Will it be in the filter or does it drain into the pan when the engine isn't running..I put the only filter i could get locally and it was a cheap one ,i found the right one and i want to change it.Its only been a week .I dont want to make a mess. THANKS

I haven't but several guys have said they change just the filter when using synthetic oil. There should be little if any spillage, just make sure it has sat without running for awhile so it's all drained down.

Ya it should be ok. I changed the oil yesterday, but after draining the pan, I couldnt get the filter cover off cause it was wayyyy overtorqued from the dealership. I ran it for a day then bought the proper socket and got the cover off. Dripped a bit coming out, so have a rag there.
