How much paint
I'm wondering how much paint I need to buy to paint my panel. Just did some Bondo work and I want to paint it again. Last time I used rattle cans, but this time I have access to a spray-gun.
I know a gallon would work, but I don't want to buy a lot more than I need.
Anybody out here know from experience how much I should buy?
Thanks.

Going for the primered look. Flat black, maybe with a flat white stripe. So I don't think I will need a clear coat, not sure on thinner. A lot I don't know about this. Thankfully my father-in-law will show me how to use it. Just want to make sure I bring the right amount of supplies when I go over there.

Snoopy,
He's painted a few cars, and has used the spray gun before. But I figured since everyone here has an HHR maybe somebody knows a good quantity that doesn't leave me with too much left over. Didn't know if anyone here has painted their own. He knows a lot more than me, but he doesn't claim to be an expert.

Going with a primer look with no clear coat, I would assume you would need more coats of paint. May need more paint than a standard color/clearcoat job.
Best to ask a professional for an opinion. I'm sure the place you buy your automotive paint from can give you some answers.

There is a couple owners on this forum who painted their entire cars in flat colors. Can't remember who though. Maybe someone else can help. Then send the owners a PM with your questions.

Contact your local John Deere tractor dealership. The color you want is called "Blitz Black ". It's the early hot rod / rat rod color I think you are looking for. It is really cheap, MUCH cheaper than automotive paint. It runs arouns $30 a gallon. At this price, get 2 gallons. You will also need their reducer and hardener.
