Ambient temp sensor, yes again!

I have two hhr's now. The wife has a 2006 and i have just bought a beautiful red one 2011.
My (2011) outside temp is ----f. The coolant reads fine and the ac works. I bought and changed the sensor ($9.00 at autozone) By the way mine was on the drivers side in the grill. No need to remove anything. I drove to church and back, about 40 minutes each way, some highway. It still reads the same. I have read all that I could find about this here, but no luck. Any ideas?
Stephen.

Follow the wires to ensure the ground is clean and tight

What seemingly irrelevant thing has been done recently?

When I got the recall done my temps acted funny for a while.

I will follow the wires this weekend. I tried resetting the computer by taking the fuse off at the battery. Drove it around a hundred miles. Mostly highway. No help. This was this way when I bought it.

Thank you for any help!

Curious here. Are you sure you changed the correct sensor ? The ambient temp sensor? Everthing I've read and seen shows this sensor to be located under the passengers side headlight, mounted on a frame rail.

I know mine is located here.

I agree with George. I have not seen the temp sender behind the grille before.

They moved it, in 2009 0r 2010, I know my 2011 is driver side lower grille.

Very easy & cheap to get to and change.

Good info to know donbrew. Must not have gotten moved on the SS's though. My 2010 still has it mounted in the place pictured above.

Since the OP has a 2011, I guess he was correct about the location of his.

I just know the 2008 LT was behind the bumper and the 2011 LT is plain as day visible.
