i assume drag radials make a huge difference? or would my auto ss run a similar time on stock tires and superchips tuned? or maybe a better question is what are people running with superchips and auto tranny? thanks for any info

I never ran it without the radials. I didn't even try. But they make a good difference on the street. I wish my local 1/4 mile track was not 30ft up hill. lol
I have never heard of anyone running a superchip tune. But do you know if the superchips changes any tranny tables? Or just tunes the engine?

1/4 mile times
Well I have not seen too much more listings of 0-60 1/8 or 1/4 mile times on the HHR's
so I did a little more research on GOOGLE and of course it sent me back to a couple of old threads on our forum here.
These where made by what appears to be some inactive members.
here is what they wrote about the 2.4L along with a link to one of the original threads
Times as posted in the February 2006 Car & Driver. The test HHR had a 2.4 and 5-speed manual.
0-60 mph : 8.0 seconds
0-90 mph : 17.4 seconds
1/4 mile : 16.1 seconds @ 87 mph
Rolling 5-60 mph: 8.9 seconds

Well here is a little real life 1/8th mile and 1/4 mile times from this fathers day weekend. Mine is a 2.4l automatic that is bone stock except for synthetic oil and Bosch 2 plugs.
Best times (not all in the same runs)
1/4 mile ET 16.79 @ 82 mph
1/8 mile ET 10.89 @ 70 mph
60 foot time 2.434
MPH 83
Reaction time .515
My car was so 1/4 mile consistent it was sick. I ran 22 consecutive test & tune runs and all varied between 16.80 - 16.83 and all were 81 mph. My 60 ft. times however were all over the map in the beginning ranging from 2.75 - 2.43 which hurt 1/8th mile consistency.
The weather was hot and muggy which is why the car was down a couple mph. It was 90 - 95 all day with 90% humidity (thick).
In the beginning I started out with 20 psi in the front and 40 psi in the rear (stock 17" wheels). I had too much traction and the motor was getting bogged down from lack of hampsters on the hampster wheel, so I went to 24 psi then to 30. I stayed as 30 the rest of the day and it was hooked up perfect without dropping rpm's at launch and without barking the tires. I torque brake launched at 2500 rpm's. The converter was too engaged at 3000 to make the launch effective.
I am lowering it this week which should help a little and then I am going to play with intake options. I will try to keep this page updated as i go.
The great part of this adventure is that I won Sportsmen (Trophy) bracket 2 out of 47 cars which I was estatic about. All I had to do was react lower than .600 and it was in the bag every single run. I dialed in at 16.80 and never changed the shoe polish all day. I made the finals in top eliminator but red lighted trying to out tree the guy with the 8.13 second Camaro.
There is no doubt that when the humidity gets down around 65% the car will run 16.7's all day long. I am a data freak and a little side note is that everyone is stuck on these motors performing best between 180 - 190 degrees (coolant temp). I have not dyno'd yet (next week) but ET wise my worst times were at these temps. Every 16.83 and lower run was when the coolant temp was reading 200 or above. The 16.7 run was 214 at the time I staged.
