2.0 Turbo Future

2.0 Turbo Future
While GM is going to kill the cars the 2.0 Turbo is in over the next couple years the engine will live on.
Note they stated in Autoweek the new Buick LaCrosse will get the 260 HP 2.0 Turbo. Not it will be hooked to GM amazing 6 speed auto tranny.
Fritzs Henderson has stated they will put this engine in the new Buick. I expect with this engine not needed for the old cars it will find a home in many of the new models.
Performance is not dead at GM.
FYI: If you think the new LaCrosse is just a car for the gray hairs you had better check the new one out. I have seen it in person and it is a knock out. I am not a fan of the grill but the rest of the car screams Lexus only with a better interior.
Note on option will be AWD at some point but details have not been released on what engine it will use.

I would hope this motor would live on. Capable of 400+ motor hp and delivering 31 mpg, what is not to love. Never thought I would drive anything other than a RWD V-8, and although I may pick up a Z06 in the future, I love this 2.0 motor.

The 2.0 might be back in the Camaro as well. There will probably be plenty of RWD versions available when the Solstice and Sky go away in a couple months. It'd be awesome if they'd put one in the Malibu, too. It's the same thing as the LaCrosse, so it'd be nice to see a performance version of the 'bu stick around.

I see the 2.0 growing in respect to the increse of the CAFE standards. The idea is it has good power and will get better mileage than a V6.
Note GM has the 3.0 listed at 255 HP and the 3.6 for the Buick at 280 HP. They have yet to list the 2.0. I wonder where it will slot in.
Engine, 3.0L DOHC, V6 VVT Spark Ignition Direct Injection (SIDI) (FWD - 255 hp [193.9 kW] @ 6900 rpm, 217 lb-ft of torque [293.0 N-m] @ 5100 rpm) (AWD - 252 hp [187.9 kW] @ 6900 rpm, 215 lb-ft of torque [290.3 N-m] @ 5100 rpm
Engine, 3.6L Variable Valve Timing V6 with SIDI (Spark Ignition Direct Injection), DOHC (280 hp [215.5 kW] @ 6300 rpm, 259 lb-ft of torque [349.7 N-m] @ 4800 rpm)
Note this car is not a Malbu based Delta we have now. It is the new Delta II. It has a wide range of improvments and the new Bu will be based on this car in a couple years.
I was shocked to see this car at 3900-4100 pounds. It is not a light weight.
If you get the chance sit in this car and it is amazing.
Anyway I expect to see improvments to our engine with its new life.
Still not sure I would want one in a Camaro right now. In time if the Camaro goes to the smaller Alpha platform it would make a sweet right in a car around 3000-3200 pound. 3800 is just a little too much weight for me for a performance car. The extra weight on the Buick is not as much as an issue as it is more the touring car.

I agree, as much as I like this motor, I would never order a Camaro with it, and I bet I am in the majority there.

Second the motion. I saw a new Camaro just today and compared to the HHR or Cobalt (and Solstice/Sky for that matter), it is a much bigger, huskier car deserving of the V8 (or at least the V6) that it is currently running. I would think that the 2.0 that's a screamer in the HHR and Cobalt would be reduced to a soft "yell" in the relatively larger Camaro.

The 2.0 will do better than the V6 engines on mileage. Also you need to remember the new Buick is not a old persons car anymore. It will compete with Lexus and Acura.
The 2.0 could be just what the perfromance touring version needs. Buick is even offereing two different rear suspensions on this. This is just not another GM hack job of putting big tires on a basic Buick and calling it a touring edtion.
The only issue GM will have it to get people to check the new car out as there are too many preconcieved notions of what Buick was and no longer going to be.
Like I said if you have not sat in this car please do. This car will impact GM's line up for FWD like the new CTS has the RWD.
