Air filter box

I opened the air filter box of my SS to check out the air filter this weekend. I noticed there were circular holes at the bottom of the air filter box. My question is are the holes suppose to be there? Wouldn't the holes draw in hot air from the engine? Thanks in advance for any feedback.

BTW, getting the stage 1 install at Rochenbach Chevrolet this monday. Woohoo!!!

It's for draining of water or moisture.

I opened mine up last week for the first time. It's the same filter as my polaris ATV. What's all out there for filters and intakes I'm still learning here. It seems it's in need of some upgrade.

Hey Good luck w/ Stg kit. It's just still WOW for me after a week. Did 80mph with A/C on 400 miles today 28.2mpg!! You'll have much fun with your purchace.

Sweet! The service guy said they upgraded the stage kit for over 20 HHR SS already.

I couldn't say for sure. I'll check it out some time. They probably do put some drain holes in. When most of the air would come though fender. Has anyone seen the air inlet in the fender? Is there any baffles to remove so I can hear the lovely sound of the Turbo swallowing air UP.! Ok I'll stop now. Just looking for the simple little mods to compliment the Stg kit.

More than that I think, I also went there.

I agree, the holes are for draining.

Jeramie, thanks for your initial recommendation for installation at Rockenbach, everything went smoothly.

However, they scratched the front bumper lip on the passenger side Unfortunately I did not make the service guy do the initial body inspection, so he denied it was their fault.

It's not worth it for me to take the car to an auto body shop, so I plan to try and repaint the scratch myself when I get some free time.

If anyone has a good how-to article/link, please forward my way. Thanks.
